Baby I'm A Fool

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Melody Gardot concert at the legendary Keswick Theatre. Anyone who is not familiar with the Philadelphia native's music and inspirational story should watch this.

Gardot is more than just another sultry-smooth jazz singer.  She has the stage presence of a seasoned pro and is amazingly only twenty five.  She has the grace of a prima ballerina, yet walks with a cane.  And best of all, she had an amazing sense of style that could rival the chic-est Parisian in France.  Oh and her three-piece band was also INCREDIBLE!

This was one of my favorite songs of the evening :)

I never thought I'd say this...but I'm momentarily a bit bored with fashion. Is it me or do the spring/summer trends all have a "been there, done that feeling"? Striped tees, ethnic prints, army jackets...what a yawn! Nothing has a wow factor; that certain something that shouts, "ooh buy me buy me!". Which I suppose is good for my wallet, but snooze-inducing for sure.

Zelda Fitzgerald once said "She refused to be bored chiefly because she wasn't boring." In regards to fashion I think that's a crock. Give me something inspiring, something new & fresh to get excited about. I can only hope my state of mind is temporary...otherwise I'm in trouble!

Put A Cork In It!

This morning I got to thinking about cork. Yes, you heard me right. Cork. Don’t ask me why...my brain is a wild animal. So I did a little cork research. Wow...I’m a nerd. It turns out that cork is pretty interesting and has a vast variety of uses. My favorites include keeping wine fresh and helping baseball players cheat. Cork can also be used as flooring, for insulation and to make musical instruments. And best of all, it creates adorable accessories! Cork fashion items can be surprisingly expensive, but their toughness and durability can guarantee a long life.

I'm constantly searching for new style inspirations. In magazines, on web blogs, from street sightings, etc. But my absolute favorite source of inspiration has to be the silver screen. So many stylish characters have sparked my interest over the decades, I could talk about them ad nauseam! Below are my all-time top five.



Margot Tenenbaum - The Royal Tenenbams

Her style is best described as consistently quirky. I love her fur coat, vintage Le Tigre dresses and heavily-lined eyes.














Susan - Desperately Seeking Susan

The look that launched a million wannabes. This was definitely a "more is more" style approach, especially in regards to the use of hair products and accessories. Brilliant!
