Having just returned from a weekend in New York City, I thought I'd devote this week's favorites to things I enjoyed about the trip. Here goes...
#1. The Pod Hotel, located in Midtown. It's decor is very Euro-trash meets futuristic. We booked a room for the weekend based on the very cheap deal we found...totally overlooking it was so cheap because of the communal bathroom...eek! Thankfully, a hotel employee took pity on a stupid newlywed couple that shall remain nameless, and we were upgraded to a room with our very own, very tiny bathroom. Overall, the hotel was clean and the staff was accommodating. Score!
#2. The Italian restaurant that was a mere hop, skip & jump away from the hotel, Pescatore. Very affordable, and quite delicious. Their flatbread appetizer was awesome, as was the polenta-crusted salmon. I would go back in a heartbeat.
#3. Despite the rainy weather ALL weekend, we were able to enjoy a leisurely stroll in Battery Park. I thought it was really lovely. The lanterns (pictured above) are reminisent of Parisian streets.

My Three Favorites
A thousand apologizes for my lack of posts last week...it was a doozy. But nevertheless I still had three favorites, and here they are in no particular order:
All On The Line, the new-ish fashion reality show on the Sundance Channel. I like how Joe Zee plays fairy godfather to give struggling designers a second chance to become super successful.

Making the first guac of the warm weather season.

My Three Favorites
Photo via Verde website
#1. I have a new favorite shoping mecca in Center City. The super cute boutique/chocolate shope Verde. A place where I can purchase unique clothes, accessories, perfume AND decadent Marcie Blaine chocolates? I've died and gone to heaven!
#2. I never get tired of watching this beautiful commercial for Miss Dior Cherie perfume. Wouldn't you just love to live in that world? C'est magnifique!

#3. Darling's Diner in Northern Liberties. Very retro-chic vibe minus that dingy diner feeling. It's open 24 hours, has a full bar and serves breakfast anytime. I had the chicken salad club with sweet potato fries and both were phenomenal.

My Three Favorites
#1 . The Shopping Strike is over! Thank the Lord. Celebratory purchases were made at Target.
#2. My neighborhood restaurant Cassizzi's. The former funeral home turned super cute Italian joint has a fantastic menu & a super accommodating staff. It's fab!
#3. The new Showtime series The Borgias. Very juicy story line & fabulous costumes. Love!

My Three Favorites
1. Sonny & Joe's baba ganoush. This is the best eggplant spread I've ever had. It would be perfect alongside hummus, feta, peppers and fresh pita. Num num.
2. My new work commute. I thought I would hate taking public transportation, but it's awesome not having to worry about traffic jams and the ever-increasing gas prices.
3. The library. I always seem to forget there are a plethora of books and movies available for free! Duh.

My Three Favorites
My three favorites this week are all extremely enjoyable on their own. But when combined, they create quite possibly the most deliciously comforting grilled sandwich ever. I'd like to think I invented it, so if anyone wants to challenge me for ownership, bring it on! But for now here's my amazing creation, The Italian Elvis sandwich.
So you start with two slices of potato bread. To one slice of bread, spread liberally with...

Assemble the sandwich and place on a heated, buttered griddle pan. Grill until both sides are golden brown and peanut butter & Nutella are melted.

My Three Favorites
1. The best under-appreciated Italian restaurant in the city, Modo Mio. Do yourself a huge favor and order off the Menu Turista. You'll get four breathtaking courses for 34 bucks! And it's a BYOB.
3. And speaking of treats, Lindt's dark chocolate with sea salt is too delectable for words.

My Three Favorites
1. I have a new fav nail polish! Essie's Over the Edge. It's the perfect metallic charcoal gray. Little purchases such as this will keep me sane until The Strike is over.
2. This website is adorable, simple and informative. And so much quicker than having to watch those pesky weather reports.

3. The food blog How Sweet It Is. I adore all the photos and every recipe looks amazingly yummy. This will definitely be my go-to site for trying out new meals & desserts.

My Three Favorites
My first favorite thing of last week is too delicious not to share...
These scrumptious little treats are doughnut muffins (insert heavenly, angelic singing here). They taste just as good as they sound and are super easy to make. The recipe lives here. My second favorite thing goes perfectly with my first favorite...
The Donut Shop coffee for the Keurig coffee maker. It's nothing fancy, just makes a damned good cup of joe!
And finally, daylight savings time. What a pain in the fanny to get used to, but how fabulous it feels to have more light!

My Three Favorites
Another week gone by. My absolute favorite, favorite thing of last week is definitely...
Rosey Goat, the yummiest goat cheese I've ever had. I happen to love plain goat cheese, as well as anything rosemary-infused. So this combination is downright heavenly. Also...
The gorgeous Elie Saab gown Mila Kunis wore to the Oscar's. The color is so beautifully feminine and I love the touches of lace at the bosom. And finally...
I'm ashamed to admit it, but celebrities behaving badly was quite entertaining. Between Xtina's DUI, Mr. Tiger Blood's crazy rants and John Galliano's alleged appalling behavior. Craziness!

My Three Favorites
Another week, another favorites list. Here are some new discoveries and enjoyments from last week.
Although it's not really new (only new to me) the Showtime series United States of Tara. A psychiatric disorder was never so hilarious. And basically everything Diablo Cody writes seems to be.
My new subscription to House Beautiful Magazine. I'm getting tons of inspiration from all the lovely photos (like the ones below) for when I redecorate our bedroom.
The ever-so-subtle warmer weather we have been experiencing. It reminds me that spring is not so far away! And what could be more spring-y than this Kate Spade ad. Makes me want to SHOP!

My Three Favorites
Here are my three favorite discoveries of this past week, in no particular order.
The Cooking Channel series Extra Virgin. Debi Mazar and her Italian hubby are so adorable when they cook together.
Tom Ford's A Single Man. The designer turned director's first film is beautifully stylish, yet supremely sad. Still, I loved it!
Pretzel M&M's. God only knows what took me so long to try them. Sweet + Salty = Candy Heaven!

My Three Favorites
A few of my favorite things from this past week.
Getting together with my girlfriends and eating yummy food like fried raviolis (thanks Alyss!), amazing Pierogie Kitchen pierogies (thanks Christina!) and brunch at Cake in Chestnut Hill (yay Laurie & Meg!).
Breaking in my leopard heels. I can't deny how satisfying it feels.
"Sexiness wears thin after a while and beauty fades, but to be married to a man who makes you laugh every day, ah, now that's a real treat."
I love this quote from Joanne Woodward about marriage.

My Three Favorites
Here are three new discoveries I thoroughly enjoyed this past week:
The sweet potato gnocchi with pancetta & leeks in a basil cream sauce at Caffe Valentino in South Philly. The perfect creamy, heavenly & comforting Italian dish.
The steamy Woody Allen flick Vicky Cristina Barcelona. The most gorgeous cast of actors and scenery. I want to go to Spain so badly now.
The photo and blog sharing site Pinterest. I have discovered so many beautiful pictures (like the above shot of Muenster, Germany). Now I want to go there too, if only for the cheese :)
