Fabulous Friday!

Happy Friday everyone!  My weekend is super-extended until Wednesday...score!  I'm planning on lots of fun activities such as dinners, birthday parties, spring cleaning (OK maybe that's not so fun) and cooking.  Enjoy your down time, whatever it may be!

Disco Queen

As much as I love the Hippie style, I think I love Disco style ten thousand times more.  When I was a teenager I was obsessed with Studio 54, the infamous 1970's night club located in Manhattan.  Any place where Andy Warhol, Mick Jagger, Debbie Harry, Truman Capote and Liza Minnelli hung out together must have been amazing!  I was so fascinated with the long defunct club, I even stated in my high school yearbook that my future plans included re-opening Studio 54.  Ha!

While my career plans have certainly changed, I still love disco inspired styles to this day.  And I'm not the only one, check out Marc Jacobs' Spring 2011 collection.  Glitzy disco-inspired items are perfect for a night out dancing.  Just make sure your name's on the list.

In Memoriam

"I've been through it all, baby.  I'm mother courage."

Remembering the unforgettable Elizabeth Taylor.

I've Got the Hippie Hippie Chic

I have always had an affinity towards the bohemian/hippie look of the 60's & 70's.  I don't think it ever really goes out of style, it just pops every other season in a fresh new way.  For this spring, I'm digging all the neutral, earthy looks.  Sprinkling pieces like these into your wardrobe can give it that cool, hippie vibe.  Too much all at once and people may ask if you just got back from a love-in.  Not so groovy.

Bathroom Envy

Hi, my name is Gina and I have a fugly bathroom.  I would post a photo of said fugly bathroom, but children could be reading this and I do not want to frighten them.  So I'll just paint a little picture for everyone.

The bathroom floor is three different shades of blue tile.  The walls are white-tiled with blue windmills.  And the upper walls are (wait for it!) floral wallpapered, very reminiscent of a Laura Ashley dress circa 1989.  Barf-o-rama.

My husband bought our house (before we met) from an elderly Polish lady.  He said she specifically told him that the bathroom was her pride and joy.  I can only assume she was indeed both color blind and had the worst taste in the history of humanity.

Since bathroom remodeling is quite expensive and we're not planning on staying in our house long-term, we are reluctant to put any money into it.  So I have a new brilliant plan...win a new bathroom giveaway!  I'll be entering to win my dream bathroom here every day.  I suggest no one else enters this contest.  C'mon, help a girl out!

So until I win my new, fabulous, luxurious bathroom, I will be dreaming of elegant bathrooms such as these. Wish me luck!

My Three Favorites

1. I have a new fav nail polish!  Essie's Over the Edge.  It's the perfect metallic charcoal gray.  Little purchases such as this will keep me sane until The Strike is over.

 2. This website is adorable, simple and informative. And so much quicker than having to watch those pesky weather reports.

3. The food blog How Sweet It Is.  I adore all the photos and every recipe looks amazingly yummy.  This will definitely be my go-to site for trying out new meals & desserts.

Fabulous Friday!

This Friday feels especially sweet.  The weather is just amazing!  It makes me want to drive around with the windows down and the stereo up.  Enjoy!
