Well, Smell You

On my way to work this morning, something felt a bit...off.  Like I forgot to do something before I left the house.  Did I unplug the straightener?  Check.  Did I lock the door? Check.  Did I put on deodorant?  Oh crap.  I forgot to put on deodorant!!

I am a repeat deodorant-forgetter offender.  So much so, that I keep an extra stick in my office drawer.  Or I did at my old office.  But since I started my new job I haven't bought my emergency stick yet.  Crap again! Thankfully, I now work in the Wanamaker building.  Macy's to the rescue!

As soon as the doors opened, I high-tailed it to the fragrance department.  I asked a super chatty perfume-spritzer lady if they sold deodorant, any kind will do.  She went on to proclaim how fabulous Donna Karan Cashmere Mist deodorant is, and it's the only kind she uses.  Being it was an emergency, I paid 20 bucks for the alleged fabulous deodorant and went back to work.*

Surprisingly, this deodorant is pretty fabulous!  It smells amazing, and lasts way longer than my usual Dove deodorant.  Nice recommendation, super chatty perfume-spritzer lady.

* I don't want to hear any crap about how I spent 20 bucks on deodorant.  I buy all my makeup at the drugstore and eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every day.  Sometimes a girl has to treat herself, even if it's her pitties.

Coconut Girl In A High Fashion World

I am a lover of all things coconut scented and flavored.  They remind me of easy living, warm tropical breezes & (most importantly) frosty beverages with little umbrellas.  Enjoying coconut products regularly makes feel like it's close to summertime, even on the chillest rainy day.  Here are my favorites.

This conditioner smells fabulous & is environmentally friendly to boot.

This makes your skin feel like buttah!  And smells like fresh coconut of course.

I love this coffee...especially with extra cream and sugar.

And of course this with pineapple juice.  Where's my beach chair?

Oh Make Me Over

I don't know about you, but the girly-girl side of me LOVES beauty products of all kinds.  I'm also fascinated to hear all the various products women love to use.  I'm hoping to start a little series where I'll ask various fashionable ladies what their must-have products are.  So I guess I'll start with yours truly!

Clinique, All About Eyes.  This gel-like eye cream is a god send.  Like many Italian gals, I am prone to under eye circles and puffiness.  A few quick dabs and I no longer look like a strung out streetwalker.  Well not under my eyes anyway.

Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara.  I once read a review that said it's the poor man's version of Diorshow mascara.  Since I'm totally a poor man, that works great for me.  The super skinny brush really allows you to coat individual lashes without them getting all clumpy.  Love!

Good old Dove beauty bar is the only soap I use.  I can't stand shower gels and body washes, they make my skin feel all filmy.  I also love the smell, it reminds me of my childhood.

Jergens Natural Glow foaming self tanner.  I just feel so much more attractive when I have a tan, and this foam is fabulous.  It goes on super evenly without leaving stripes or dark patches on your skin.

I have tried a lot of hairsprays to tame my wild mane. This is the only brand that eliminates frizzies and doesn't make my curls all crunch-ifed.  And it's dirt cheap.

On Tuesdays We Wear Pink

I'm definitely NOT one of those girls that is obsessed with the color pink.  In fact, those girls secretly annoy the heck out of me.  But at the moment I'm really digging hot pink pieces, they just put a smile on my face!

Old School Beauty

Like most ladies, I'm a sucker for beauty products of all kinds.  And I especially adore beauty items &  fads of days gone by.  I'd love to see some of the old school trends (such as those listed below) become popular again.  Let's bring them back!

Witch Hazel

A fantastic, extra mild astringent that's been around since the 1870's. I remember my Dad making me use it in junior high when I had a whopper of a blemish....it always cleared crazy fast. Witch Hazel's scent is a little strange, but it's fabulous for your skin.

P.S. I just started using witch hazel again for the first time in a very long time and I love it!

Mirrored Vanity Tray

Every woman should own one to display perfume bottles and fancy creams.  So elegant!

Pale Skin

OK, I have been a tan-orexic on many occasions.  But it would be great to confidently own my winter white skin without feeling ghoulish or sickly.

Curves

Because trying to be skinny is simply no fun. I enjoy booze, bread, butter & sugar far too much.

Cigarette Cases

Because such nasty little devils should at least be displayed in something pretty.

Max Factor Products

In the 1920's Max Factor was Hollywood's original make up artist extraordinaire.  His makeup line became insanely popular among starlets and common folk alike. Much to my despair, Max Factor products have all but disappeared from drug stores. Fortunately, you can find them online...I've used the Max Factor Pan-Stik since high school.  It's the best cover stick ever!
